A birds wings are like angel feathers, they gave them the freedom to gracefully fly where ever they willed them to. The cool Autumn breeze running through their feathers. Pushing them ever so gently higher into the rays of sunlight, as if without hesitation to hold them back they shifted their weight to the left in unity, always together, free as one. Not far below, amber eyes twinkled up at them in admiration, observing every movement of the free spirits.
Humi envied them. They swept through the wind without fear nor barriers. Just them and the sun. If only she felt this way, the barriers in her life that binded her, she only wished to over come them. But her barricade was her own body. For as long as she could remember, hospital beds, medicine, blood transfusions, boring medicated afternoons feeling dizzy, needles prickling her pale skin and reading books was her only reality. She always hated her frail broken body. Always too medicated to run with the other children and too weak to attract any friends. But in spite of this, some how managed to attract someones eyes.
Maria Shydegger had taught Humi everything she knew from Math and English to Astronomy and Casting. Madame Maria always talked with dignity and expressed what she believed in with every bit of her own being. She inspired Humi so much without knowing. Her warm smile always kept her hopeful even on the worst days. Maria talked much to her about her past life, she shared memories of her childhood and her days as a Caster trainee. Spending her days in a hospital bed with an entire library at her fingertips Maria taught her the wonders and joy books could bring her. Making days feel less long and more exciting, much like a mother she thought at times. Humi belonged to a wealthy family, famous for its excellent history in powerful slayers. These were the standards she was to meet, her father always ridiculed her for her weak body, thus forgetting her like she had damned the Kyogatomi family name, how was an ill girl to be the successor to their families ancestry?
But reluctantly Humi wasn't just smart, she was very talented in casting and no one could see this besides Maria. She took it upon herself to take Humi under her wing to train her to her fullest potential. Now she had grown strong enough to leave her hospital bed and attend an elite private academy for special Casters with ability beyond most. Maria said before she left for the train station 'Now go venture off into another page of you lives book' and she wrapped her arms tight around her, pecking her forehead before waving goodbye with tears sparkling down her cheeks. She had no one to thank but Maria for this, Humi would never look back to the enormous mansion that she was her personal prison She was finally breaking free of the binds that held her back for years.
Though she was shivering in the brisk October chill, her heart was thumping, her excitement over whelmed her. The huge train station was a humming bee hive full of more people than Humi had ever laid her eyes on in her life. Leaning against a wall, waiting for the train she wondered what each person was like, where they were going, what they were doing. They were all apart of a huge forest, and she was a new born cub, her surroundings so unfamiliar, each turn of a corner lead to more fascinating things. Hiding her small smile under her scarf. She could her the chugging of the train coming down the track, whooshing by thrashing a bitter wave of icy cold air into her body. It screeched to a holt and the speakers blared an announcement.
"Train 46, boarding for Sanciti Muenster Capital. All aboard."
Straightening up Humi grabbed her bag, holding only her clothes, a laptop and her leather bound spell book and hobbled into the train where the lieutenant lead her into her room. The ride to the capital lasted approximately two days. Placing her things neatly into storage Humi looked around her new surroundings. The size of a shed the room contained a pull out bed, a chair with a built into the wall table and a fridge.
Grasping her precious gift from Maria, a Lectio stone, she sat down with a sigh. She was exhausted, looking down to the chain on her neck she thought of Maria. A Lectio stone, created by Maria herself, were very difficult to create, their components must be of the purest. Its purpose was to read a persons soul, determining for the safety of the owner if they would bring them good, or bad futures. Very valuable but even more so to Humi. She was finally on her way to her new fate, her new life. Without barriers, she could spread her wings and fly into the next page of her life with a smile on her face. Maria would always be her omma in her mind...
